TAHA is an apex private sector member-based organization mandated to develop and promote horticulture (flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA’s goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of the horticultural industry in the country for social and economic gains. TAHA is a unified voicing platform for Tanzania horticulture, representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers in the horticultural industry in Tanzania. TAHA is looking for a motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the following position: POSITION: AGRI-FINANCE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES OFFICER DUTY STATION: UNGUJA - ZANZIBAR The Agri-finance and Business Development Services Officer shall work closely with the TAHA Zanzibar Coordinator to ensure growth and sustainability of Agri-business value chain actors, facilitate issues on agricultural value chain financing, SME’s financing, business development support, financial sector research and agribusiness capacity building to program beneficiaries. Specifically, this position will be guided by the following duties and responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities 1. Access to Finance: • Guide formal financial service providers to develop tailor-made financial products and loan terms for horticultural producers, traders, processors and other actors. • Capacitate value chain actors on financial literacy and record keeping, and link them to financial institutions for loans • Form and build capacity of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) groups and ensure their formal registration with respective authorities 2. Business Development Services: • Identify, support and coordinate farmer entrepreneurship trainings using an inhouse approach. • Build the capacity of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and ensure formal registration with respective authorities and regulatory agencies 3. Reporting: • Collect and package success stories and learnings for sharing with partners and stakeholders. • Promote and disseminate TAHA Market Information System to value chain actors. • Participate in establishment of data collection mechanisms and tools for monitoring and evaluation. • Coordinate the data collection process from VSLA groups and financial institutions. 4. Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor. Complexity of Role: • The role requires strong analytical skills, experience in building and maintaining strategic relationships. • Ability to create the right environment for success against a backdrop of diverse and often conflicting cultures, needs and timelines. • Tasks often involve multiple projects or functions. Qualifications and skills Degree Level Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Economics or any other related field. Experience At least 3 years Industry experience required. Key Skills Strong communication, Negotiation, Planning & coordination, management, and leadership. Other skills include report writing, goal-oriented, flexibility, and creativity under pressure; budgeting, Internet, and computer skills and ability to make professional decisions in a fast-paced environment. Remuneration The successful candidate will be remunerated according the TAHA salary scales, and in alignment with the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
